Women’s College Basketball: Umpqua thumps Centralia, remains unbeaten

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Sophomore forward Jordan Stotler just missed a triple-double as the top-ranked Umpqua Community College women’s basketball team posted a 65-48 win over Centralia Friday at the Lower Columbia Holiday Classic.

Stotler, a former Roseburg High standout who signed with Portland State University, finished with with 18 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and three blocked shots. Sutherlin graduate Taylor Stricklin scored 25 points — sinking seven 3-point field goals — for the unbeaten Riverhawks (12-0).

Bria Thames had eight points, 12 rebounds and four assists, and Alyssa Grenfell made five assists for UCC, which led 36-24 at halftime. Umpqua shot 35.6 percent (26 of 73) from the field.

Kylie Smith scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Trailblazers (7-4).
