Billy & the Showmen bring the R&B to Greenwich
The legendary Greenwich rhythm and blues band, Billy & the Showmen, were the headliner for the Greenwich Parks Department Wednesday night concert series at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.
Under clear skies and with a crowd of roughly one thousand people in attendance lead singers Billy Foster and Mensah Robinson belted out the R&B standards backed by 5 piece horn section.
Prior to the concert Foster said spoke about the history of the band “we’ve been together for I’d say 58 years. One of the Billy’s says we were established in 1963 but I say it was earlier, we were practicing together before that, in 1961-62.”
Concert goer Laura McCormick said “I love the Wednesday night concert series and I am so glad it finally stopped raining. What a lovely evening.”
