Georgia sheriff seeks 2 in deadly shooting by homeowner

September 20, 2019

CONYERS, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia sheriff is asking for the public’s help in finding two people who may have been involved in a deadly triple shooting by a homeowner during an attempted robbery.

A Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office statement released Thursday says the two people are being sought so they can be questioned. News outlets report authorities have said a Conyers home owner shot and killed three teenagers during an attempted robbery Sept. 16. They said the teens exchanged gunfire with the homeowner, whose identity hasn’t been released by authorities.

No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation. Deputy Lee Thomas says the department can’t release further details about the sought individuals so as to ensure credible information is provided.

County Coroner George Levett on Wednesday identified the slain teens as Brandon Gresham and brothers Isaiah Reed and Jamie Hernandez. The teens ranged in age between 15 and 16. Their bodies have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for autopsy.

An incident report released that same day says deputies responding to reports of gunfire found one teen lying on the ground with a handgun underneath him. It says a second teen was found bleeding from his head in a nearby cul-de-sac.

About 300 people gathered Wednesday night to hold a candlelight vigil for the three teens.
