Bridgeport choir leader named as state teacher of the year
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A woman who has taught music in Bridgeport schools since 1983 has been honored as Connecticut’s Teacher of the Year.
The governor and the state education commissioner visited Warren Harding High School to deliver the news Tuesday to Sheena Graham.
The 57-year-old Graham was one of four finalists for the honor. The others were from Newington, Wallingford and Mansfield.
Graham will go on to a competition for the national Teacher of the Year.
The Connecticut Post reports Graham has received a teaching award from the city and performed twice for Michelle Obama at the White House with the Turnaround Arts Program.
