Dixon High School December Student of the Month: Valerie Miller
Valerie Miller, 17, of Dixon is Dixon High School’s December Student of the Month. Her parents are Shane and Pam Miller, and she has a sister, Holli, and a brother, Derek.
Favorite class: Accounting.
Least favorite class: Calculus.
School activities in which you participate: Volleyball, basketball cheerleading, and band.
Civic, church, volunteer or activities in which you participate: Church youth group.
Do you have a job? I am a cashier at Shopko.
How would you describe your group of friends? Dysfunctional, but always supportive.
What will you do after high school? Go to college for accounting and finance.
What is something you learned in high school that you think you’ll never use? How to find the antiderivative of a function.
What kind of music are you listening to? Country.
What’s one thing in your life you can’t do without? My phone.
What is your advice for surviving high school? Always stay positive, work hard, and eventually good things will come your way.
If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? I would get rid of two of the four floors, so there are fewer stairs to run up every day.
What scares you? Bridges.
If you could try any job for the day, what would it be? I would be Vanna White on “Wheel of Fortune.”
If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? Paris, to see the Eiffel Tower.
What is a good book you have read recently? “My Brilliant Friend,” by Elena Ferrante.
Who is your hero/role model? My parents.
What do you think your life will be like 10 years from now? I will be graduated from college with a job that I love, and the rest will be worked out as I go.
What is your life’s philosophy? No matter what happens, just keep your head up.
