Man pleads guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting child
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl last year.
Mariano Rivera, 30, of New Britain, pleaded guilty Tuesday to home invasion and fourth-degree sexual assault.
Rivera was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 10 years of special parole. He was initially charged with first-degree sexual assault, but the charges were lessened as per his plea agreement.
Prosecutor Donna Mambrino said Rivera was a guest of the girl’s mother and the mother was in the home when her daughter was assaulted.
Mambrino told the judge Rivera was previously convicted for sexually assaulting two girls, ages 11 and 12.
