Mallards: Lead doesn’t hold up against Rafters

June 12, 2017 GMT

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Madison Mallards ran into a juggernaut Sunday afternoon.

The Mallards, who led 2-1 in the fourth inning, allowed single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings before Wisconsin Rapids settled matters with a four-run seventh en route to a 7-2 victory in a Northwoods League amateur baseball game at Witter Field.

The South Division-leading Rafters (12-1), the reigning league champs, won their franchise-record 10th consecutive game.

The Mallards (5-8), who got three hits — including two doubles — from Angel Camacho, dropped their second straight game.
