Police: N. Carolina man fatally pinned beneath sliding truck
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina have identified a man who died after he was pinned underneath a truck that slid into a ditch on Monday afternoon.
Winston-Salem police responded to an emergency call in the southwest part of the city around 4 p.m., news outlets reported. A crew was working on a ditch there, and Daniel Ray Boles, 54, was standing behind a Ford pickup truck guiding the driver toward the hole, police told The Winston-Salem Journal.
The vehicle began to slide down the ditch, pinning Boles underneath the truck bed, investigators determined. Boles died on the scene.
Police didn’t identify the truck’s driver but said the individual wasn’t injured. The department’s traffic enforcement unit is investigating.
