2 Pittsburgh men arrested in South Oakland homicide
Pittsburgh police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting of a man who was found dead on a sidewalk in South Oakland on Monday evening.
Public safety spokeswoman Alicia George said investigators will charge Velmon Dowling, 21, and Shayne Andrew Craighead, 22, both of Pittsburgh, with homicide in the death of Hasan Ishmael Abdul-Rabb, who was found dead along Ward Street shortly after 5:20 p.m. Monday. Their charges were not available in online court records Tuesday afternoon.
Abdul-Rabb was declared dead at the scene, about a block from Dan Marino Field.
Dowling and Craighead were being held in the Allegheny County Jail, where they will be ineligible for bail because they are charged with homicide.
