AUSTIN, Texas _ In the growing Democratic presidential field, they seem like a study in opposites _ Bernie Sanders and Beto O’Rourke. One’s 77, a democratic socialist from the U.S.-Canada border state of Vermont, who exudes a curmudgeonly grumpiness and bursts with detailed policy proposals. The other’s a boyish 46-year-old native of the U.S.-Mexico border city of El Paso, Texas, who livestreams his skateboarding prowess and offers hopeful but vague paeans to tolerance and cooperation. CHINA-MAR-A-LAGO-ARREST

BEIJING _ Chinese diplomats in Texas have been informed of the arrest of a Chinese woman at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club over the weekend and are providing her with consular services, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday. Spokesman Geng Shuang told reporters that the Chinese Consulate General in Houston had been notified of the March 30 arrest, had gotten in touch with the person involved and was providing her with consular assistance. _ TEXAS IMMIGRATION ARRESTS _ Immigration agents have arrested nearly 300 people at a North Texas technology company in what authorities say is one of the largest enforcement actions of its kind in a decade.

_ INVESTMENT FRAUD-TEXAS _ Prosecutors say two Texas men have been convicted in a $22 million scheme using investment funds on fancy personal items including a Rolls-Royce.

LONGVIEW, Texas _ Chalk one up for art on a sunny East Texas day. The Longview News-Journal reports that was artist Joshua “Lakey” Hinson’s mission Tuesday as he accepted an invitation from Keep Longview Beautiful to bring some color to The Green. Hinson now lives in Austin and makes a living making curious, colorful, sometimes complex shapes he also reproduces on sidewalks when he gets a notion.
