Coming to Danbury Friday: film festival where viewers pick the winner

DANBURY - The Manhattan Short Film Festival, an annual event that allows viewers across the world to vote for the winning movie, will begin on Friday at the Palace Theatre on Main Street.

The film festival runs simultaneously in 250 cities, allowing an expected 100,000 theater-goers the chance to vote on 10 films, according to a release.

The 10 films were selected from 840 submissions from 52 countries, the release said.

The finalists represent categories that range from comedy to horror.

Among the finalists: a film called “Bravoman” from Russia and a film called “I am a Pencil” from Australia.

The festival begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling 203-794-9944 or by visiting www.thepalacedanbury.com.

Tickets also may be purchased at the box office, 165 Main St., one hour before the show.
