La Conner Marina gets new harbormaster
LA CONNER — The Port of Skagit has named Darla Pyke the new harbormaster for the La Conner Marina, according to a port news release.
Pyke will manage the business operations of the marina. She has served as assistant harbormaster since 2015, according to the release.
She replaces Kody Skvaril, who held the position for about three years.
“Kody worked really hard to move the harbor forward in a lot of ways, especially with community and tenant involvement.” Pyke said. “I hope to keep building on that.”
After three years in a behind-the-scenes position at the marina, Pyke said she’s excited to get out in the community and meet tenants.
Pyke has a bachelor’s degree in professional writing/communication from the University of New Mexico and is completing a Harbors and Marinas education program from the University of Alaska.
“Darla has played a quiet, but significant role in the marina’s success in recent years, from improving our communications with boaters to developing more efficient business practices,” Port of Skagit Executive Director Patsy Martin said in the release. “I am thrilled that she will continue to move our marina in a positive direction by taking on this new challenge.”
