Hay Bale Falls, Kills Midwest Woman
SPICER, Minn. (AP) _ A hay bale weighing nearly 1,000 pounds fell off a farmer’s trailer and fatally injured a woman as she strolled along a country road with her boyfriend.
Deborah Dawson died late Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital, several hours after the accident on a county road west of Spicer in central Minnesota.
Ms. Dawson, 45, of Apple Valley and Ricky Lewis, 42, were both struck by the bale that fell off a trailer being hauled from a field by a local farmer, the Kandiyohi County sheriff’s office said.
The farmer had been interviewed and the investigation was continuing, deputies said Monday.
Lewis was recovering from a broken arm and internal injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
