College Football: Bama, Griffith headed to play for CFP title
The Alabama Crimson Tide and former Calhoun High standout Adam Griffith will be playing for it all this coming Monday.
The Tide defeated Washington 24-7 in the Peach Bowl on Saturday at the Georgia Dome to advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday in Tampa, Fla.
Griffith made a 41-yard field goal and connected on two extra points following touchdowns in the win over the Huskies. The senior kicker also handled five kickoffs for an average of 65 yards per kick with two touchbacks.
Next up on Monday for Alabama will be Clemson, who defeated Ohio State 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl. It will be a rematch of last year’s title game, which Alabama won 45-40. The game will start at 8 p.m. and be televised on ESPN.
