2016 AMA nominees
Winning awards is often one of the greatest measures of success for musicians. For instance, Michael Jackson won 26 American Music Awards, including artist of the century.This award season, some of today’s most popular artists are on track to follow in Jackson’s footsteps. Drake leads the pack with 13 nominations at the 2016 American Music Awards, setting a record for the most nominations in a single year in the process, while Rihanna picked up seven nominations.Though artists who receive AMA nominations are generally already famous, some are more well-known than others. The experts at PrettyFamous, an entertainment research site powered by Graphiq, found the most famous 2016 AMA nominees.To determine the level of fame for each nominee, PrettyFamous ranked artists based on their Musician Score - a weighted average from zero to 100 of a musician’s or group’s Wikipedia page views over the last 30 days, the number of followers they have on Spotify and the number of past AMA nominations they’ve received.PrettyFamous found that many of the most popular nominees are those whose fame has withstood the test of time. Madonna, Tim McGraw and Janet Jackson are all among the 10 most famous AMA nominees this year.See where your favorite nominee ranks.Note: Nominees for soundtrack of the year were not included in the ranking, and featured musicians were ranked independently of their collaborator.
