Euan Murray retires from Scotland ahead of World Cup
GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Euan Murray, Scotland’s most-capped tighthead prop who never played on Sundays for religious reasons, has retired from international rugby.
The 34-year-old Murray’s decision comes four months before the start of the World Cup.
With wife Sarah now expecting their third child, Murray has decided to step aside and allow head coach Vern Cotter time to make plans for his replacement.
He has played for Scotland 66 times.
Murray says “I have to be with my family as much as possible before and after the birth.”
