Display showcases beauty in pristine wooden boats
As music filled the air from the Summer Sunset Music Festival in Pentwater Saturday, boats filled the water as the Pentwater Yacht Club hosted its 21st annual Wooden and Classic Boat Show on Pentwater Lake.
Dozens of classic and newer boats were on display, each with their own unique story.
“It took me three years to restore it,” said Kenneth Simmer about his 1934 Chris Craft. “The motor is still being restored. It’s been a fun project.”
Simmer Purchased the boat off Craigslist from South Haven, It is Simmer’s second and last project.
“(When I was done with the first boat) I said great, I think I will do one more,” he said.
For Simmer and other owners, the boats are more than an object, they’re a labor of love and a source of pride.
