HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP Ludlowe advances to FCIAC baseball semifinals
The Ludlowe and Staples baseball teams advanced to the FCIAC semifinals with wins in the quarterfinals Saturday afternoon.
The second-seeded Falcons (17-4) defeated seventh-seeded Warde, 5-4, in nine innings, when Drew Buckley scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch. The top-seeded Wreckers (18-3) shutout eighth-seeded McMahon, 8-0, led by starting pitcher Chad Knight, who threw 6.1 scoreless innings and also had two hits, including a home run.
In the semifinals on Monday at Cubeta Stadium in Stamford, Staples will play fourth-seeded St. Joseph at 5, followed by Ludlowe against third-seeded Darien at 7:30.
