National Weather Service issues a winter weather advisory in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Mason, Lake, Newaygo, Kent, Ionia, Barry, Eaton and Calhoun counties, including the cities of Ludington, Baldwin, Fremont, Grand Rapids, Ionia, Hastings, Charlotte, and Battle Creek from 4 p.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest and west central Michigan.

* WHEN...Until 5 a.m. EST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times. A brisk southwest wind will cause drifting through this time period also. Even though the snow will be diminishing by 5 a.m., some roads may still be slick into the Tuesday morning commute.

A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
