Garner dominates Seventy-First, 87-47
Garner traveled to Fayetteville on Tuesday evening and left with a convincing 87-47 win over Seventy-First.
The Trojans started the game hot on offense. Three different Garner players score three-pointers in the first quarter. Trayvon Ferrell scored seven points, while Demetric Horton poured in six points off a pair of three-pointers.
Donovan Evans hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to put Garner up 24-15 going into the second quarter.
Garner’s defense held Seventy-First to just two field goals and nine points in the second quarter, meanwhile the Trojans’ offense poured in 25 points – many off turnovers. Ferrell scored seven more points in the second quarter to lead the Trojans.
Garner led Seventy-First 49-24 at halftime.
That run continued in the second half. Garner led by more than 40 points at times in the third quarter, forcing a running clock. The Trojans outscored Seventy-First 27-11 in the third quarter, then the Falcons outscored Garner 12-11 in the fourth quarter.
Garner had five players in double-figures on Tuesday night, led by Ferrell and Horton with 18 points each. Kenyon Burt scored 15 points after scoring just two points in the first half, and Jaren Ellerbe had 15 points as well. Evans finished with 11 points.
Seventy-First was led by Jaden Scriven with 11 points.
