Special services

A supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. The service, “Prayer Around the Cross,” will be a 25-30 minute combination of music, reading and prayer with a short sermon. The service is child friendly. Nursery will be provided from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.

The Historical Silver Bluff Baptist Church of Beech Island, 360 Old Jackson Highway, Jackson, will hold its candlelight service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. Pastor David Mitchem of Park Missionary Baptist Church of Beech Island will deliver the message. Marvin Morgan is the pastor.

The Progressive Religious Coalition will hold Keeping the Dream Alive: Why Dr. King’s Message Still Matters to All of US at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3131 Walton Way, Augusta. The diverse, interfaith service will include Baha’is, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, religious humanists and Unitarian Universalists. Music will be by the Davidson Chorale. A scene from “Four Little Girls: Birmingham 1963” will be performed by the Augusta Jr. Players. The Rev. Dr. Robin Meyers will be the keynote speaker.

Music/dramas

The Midland Gospel Singing Center, 705 Martin Smith Road, Gilbert, will hold its monthly gospel singing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5. Oasis and the Centurions will perform. The Women’s Fellowship of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 900 Kerr Drive S.W., will hold their third annual Gift Away from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the church. Adults may purchase and fill a large leave bag for $1, and children may buy a bag for 10 cents. All proceeds will benefit the fellowship’s missions which include Habitat for Humanities and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Union Baptist Church will hold a Potluck Fellowship at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. The potluck will be followed by holiday festivities.

Williston United Methodist Church, 6030 Springfield Road, Williston, will hold its Festival of Nativities from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, and Sunday, Dec. 9.
