Pharmaceutical distributor to close Connecticut plant
Pharmaceutical distribution giant McKesson is closing a Rocky Hill center at a cost of 105 jobs, according to a filing with the Connecticut Department of Labor.
McKesson is based in San Francisco, with the company distributing a wide range of prescription drugs and other medical supplies, including opioids to alleviate pain. In April, the company announced a review of its operations to identify cost savings.
Earlier this week, the cities of Danbury, Norwalk, Ansonia and Derby named McKesson as a defendant in a lawsuit seeking damages for the costs of opioid addiction, with other defendants including Stamford-based Purdue Pharma, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Insys Therapeutics, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
