PLYMOUTH -- Sophomore goalie Brian McGrath stopped 43 shots to lead the Fitchburg State University men’s hockey team to a 2-1 win over host Plymouth State in Thursday’s MASCAC action.

Fitchburg State (7-5-2, 4-2-2 MASCAC) opened the scoring at the 3:58 mark of the first period as senior forward Nick DiNicola gathered a feed from junior Christopher Vicario and struck for his sixth tally of the season.

Plymouth State (8-4-2, 5-2-1 MASCAC) knotted the score at 1-1 six minutes into the second period when senior forward Ryan Stevens connected on his sixth marker on the year off assists from classmate Michael Covach and sophomore Cole Crawford.

The Falcons again took the lead midway through the third period as senior Ricky Kramer received a pass from sophomore Sascha Figi and DiNicola and proceeded to bury a shot inside the far post for his sixth goal of the campaign, resulting in the 2-1 final.
