INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A new agency in Indiana has taken responsibility for the state’s film industry.

The Indiana Office of Tourism Development said Monday that it has transitioned Film Indiana from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Film Indiana is the in charge of the film, television, commercial and new media industry. It promotes Indiana to prospective filmmakers and helps companies looking for production services in Indiana.

The tourism development office will manage an online location database and production services directory for the industry. Film Indiana aims to make partnerships with film festivals to attract more film production to the state. Four-time Emmy Award winning producer Amy Howell will be Film Indiana’s director.

Indiana Office of Tourism Development executive director Mark Newman says the office hopes to offer grants to local communities to support recruitment efforts.
