Police look for clues in death of woman shot while driving
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Iowa investigators hope tips from the public can help them determine who fatally shot a woman while she was driving.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the victim in Sunday’s shooting was identified as 25-year-old Micalla Alexis Rettinger.
She was a former softball player at the University of Northern Iowa who was driving home from work at a bar with two passengers when the shooting happened early Sunday.
Police Maj. Joe Leibold says there is no sign that the victims in this case were targeted. Rettinger died and one passenger was hurt.
Leibold said investigators want help identifying anyone who may have been hunting or shooting in the area near Highway 218, especially if they might have a surveillance or train camera.
