Reality TV personality, caught with 293 pounds of marijuana, sent to prison
KINGMAN — A Mohave County Superior Court judge on Friday a sentenced a California reality show personality to 2-1/2 years in prison for transporting a large amount of marijuana on Interstate 40 in February.
Jorge Nava, 28, was arrested Feb. 7 after a traffic stop by state highway patrol officers at Milepost 15 near Topock with 293 pounds of marijuana in his car.
Nava, who appared on “90-Day Fiancé,” pleaded guilty July 17 to attempted transportation of marijuana for sale.
The reality show documents Americans who must decide within 90 days whether to marry a foreigner before their visas expire. The show began on TLC in January 2014.
Superior Court Commissioner Billy Sipe Jr. said that it was the largest amount of marijuana he has seen in the time he has been on the bench. The judge found as an aggravating factor that Nava had three prior convictions, and sentenced him to 2-1/2 years in prison.
