Robert L. “Bob” Teske, 88, of Buckley, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Monday (July 2, 2018) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley. An additional time for visitation will be from 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, until the 3 p.m. funeral service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main St., Buckley, with the Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Buckley.

Bob was born Oct. 19, 1929, in rural Buckley, the son of John and Lydia Krumwiede Teske. He married Lois Jean Gladys Meyer on Feb. 19, 1955, in Chebanse. She preceded him in death Feb. 27, 2016.

Surviving are five sons, Gary (Jeanie) Teske, of Onarga, Craig (Delores) Teske, of Buckley, Steve (Janie) Teske, of Watseka, Doug (Kara) Teske, of Buckley, Jeff (Amy) Teske of Buckley; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, Kenneth Sturm, Vernon Meyer, Kenneth Meyer and Richard Meyer.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and three sisters, Verda, Viola and Verna.

Bob graduated from Buckley High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an airborne radio operator.

He farmed until his retirement. Bob also sold seed corn for F.S. and Wyffels Hybrids for 25 years.

Bob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley, and a former elder at the church. He also was a member of the Buckley Byron A. Hickerson Post 432 American Legion, the Buckley Sportsman Club and a former member of the Buckley-Loda School Board.

He was a lifelong White Sox fan and enjoyed watching and listening to all baseball games.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church for the school renovation.
