Puppet show caps off Funington summer series
HUNTINGTON — While a few more weeks of summer remain, Funington, which offered something for kids and families to do every weekday in June and July, has drawn to a close after seeing a record turnout.
The finale to the series of children’s activities was a puppet show at Ritter Park in shelter two, presented by Cincinnati-based Madcap Puppets. Families were treated to “Jules and Verne’s Excellent Adventure!” for free, thanks to the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District.
Tyson Compton, president of the Cabell-Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau, called the third year of Funington programming a success, with three out of four partners noticing large attendance increases this year.
Compton previously told The Herald-Dispatch that some year-round continuation of the Funington activity series is being considered.
