Dwight Howard had 32 points and a franchise-record 30 rebounds, becoming the first player with a 30-30 game against the Nets since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1978, and the Charlotte Hornets stormed back to beat Brooklyn 111-105 last night. Kemba Walker scored ten of his 24 points in the fourth quarter for the Hornets, who trailed by as many 23 points in the second half to win in front of an announced crowd of 10,231 at Barclay Center.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have moved 1 ½ games ahead of Indiana for first place in the NBA’s Central Division and the third seed in the Eastern Conference. LeBron James delivered 35 points and 17 assists as the Cavs ended the Toronto Raptors’ eight-game road winning streak, 132-129. Kevin Love finished with 23 points and twelve rebounds while teammate George Hill finished with 22 points on 10-11 shooting.

The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament continues today. In games at Atlanta, 29-7 Nevada plays 30-5 Loyola-Chicago at 6:05 and 26-10 Kentucky battles 24-11 Kansas State at 8:35. In games at Los Angeles, 30-7 Michigan faces 22-12 Texas A&M at 6:35 and 32-4 Gonzaga meets 22-11 Florida State at 9:05.

The Nebraska softball team knocked off Creighton 6-2 yesterday at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln. Madi Unzicker and Gina Metzler led the Huskers on offense. Unzicker sent 2-4 with a home run and three RBI while Metzler was 3-3 and drove in a run. NU banged out ten hits in the win. The Bluejays’ Ashley Cantu had three of her team’s six hits. Kaylan Jablonski was the winning pitcher for Nebraska to improve to 14-5 while Creighton’s Bryana Clark took the loss to slip to 3-4. It was the Huskers’ sixth straight victory against the Bluejays, bringing the overall series 85-37, in favor of the Big Red. Nebraska is now 21-9 overall while Creighton falls to 11-10.

Checking out the local schedule for today, the Norfolk High girls & boys soccer teams host Columbus starting with the girls match at 5:00 followed by the boys’ game at 6:45, the Norfolk High boys golf squad opens their season at the Lincoln High Invitational at Highland Golf Course at 10:00, the Norfolk High baseball team visits Lincoln North Star in a 5:00 doubleheader, the Northeast Hawks softball team entertains the Concordia JV in a 5:00 twin bill, and the Wayne State baseball squad will play Minnesota-Duluth in a 10:30 doubleheader at Yankton.
