3 killed in North Carolina plane crash; FAA investigating

LOUISBURG, N.C. (AP) — Three people have died in a North Carolina plane crash.

News outlets report that the plane crashed near Louisburg Friday night en route to Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says one man and two women died in the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. It says the Cessna C182 — a four-seat, single-engine aircraft — took off at Triangle North Executive Airport before crashing in a pond outside Louisburg at about 7:20 p.m.

The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating.
