OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Major League Soccer championship trophy was carried down the Capitol steps by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and former Seattle Sounders player Kasey Keller before the team’s flag was raised to honor the two-time champions.
Friday’s event marked another opportunity for fans to celebrate Seattle’s 3-1 victory over Toronto earlier this month in the MLS Cup final.
After the flag raising, fans were invited to the governor’s conference room to take pictures with both the 2019 cup, and the one from 2016, the year the Sounders won their first league title.
