Danbury middle schoolers prepare for National History Day
DANBURY - City middle school students prepared for National History Day with projects that explored events ranging from civil rights to women’s rights.
Some 200 seventh and eighth graders from Westside Middle School Academy researched history projects to honor National History Day, according to a release.
For example, eighth graders Kaitlyn Klampert and Kiana Shabazz-Williams collaborated on a research project about primate expert Jane Goodall and her work with chimpanzees, the release said.
The History Day project, led by global studies teacher Jacob Thies, combined presentation and technology skills with historical research.
A regional competition is planned for March, with a state competition planned for April. National History Day is in June.
