A fitting tribute at Vietnam Memorial Wall
I visited the moving wall on Memorial Day 2018. I went in 2008 but I didn’t handle it well then. Five of my Ribault High School classmates from Jacksonville, Florida are on that wall. My wife’s brother died from Agent Orange in 1976.
I handled it a little better this time. I wore a Jungle Fatigue shirt I hadn’t worn in 45 years. A lady came up to me and said “Welcome Home”. That’s the first time anyone has ever said that to me since I came back from 15 months in Southeast Asia.
I can’t begin to express how much that simple statement meant to me. I will never forget it.
