DENVER _ Denver teachers are prepared to walk of the job Monday for the first time in 25 years over an incentive-based pay system they call unpredictable and unfair to experienced educators. If teachers get their way in a last-minute deal or after a strike, it could be the warm-up for their greater influence over how city schools are funded. Denver teachers are taking a different approach than the recent strike in Los Angeles and the wave of teacher activism nationwide since last spring, which also prioritized ways to improve schools, not just pay raises. DENVER _ Former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff on Thursday said he would challenge Republican Sen. Cory Gardner, presaging a possible crowded primary field in the effort to oust the freshman senator. Romanoff helped engineer the Democratic Party’s takeover of the state Legislature 13 years ago and lost in a Democratic Senate primary in 2010, when he failed to oust Sen. Michael Bennet. _ XGR-MEDICAL MARIJUANA-AUTISM _ Colorado’s House has passed a bill allowing medical marijuana use to treat autism spectrum disorders. The bill had strong bipartisan support, passing 63-0 on Thursday.

_ MISSING WOMAN-COLORADO _ A Colorado judge has decided that a 1-year-old girl will continue to stay with her maternal grandparents as prosecutors pursue a murder charge against the girl’s father for her mother’s death.

_ POLICE-DEADLY SHOOTING _ Authorities say a 20-year-old man has died after he was shot by a Colorado police officer north of Denver.

_ COLORADO WEATHER _ Frigid weather has closed schools in and around Denver and delayed the school day in other school districts in Colorado.

_ PEANUT-FREE BALLPARK _ Peanuts and Cracker Jack, immortalized in song as indispensable snacks at a baseball game, are no longer available at a minor league ballpark in Connecticut.

_ FINANCIAL MARKETS-BOARD OF TRADE _ Wheat for Mar. declined 12.75 cents at 5.1325 a bushel; Mar. corn was off 3.50 cents at 3.80 a bushel; Mar. oats fell 1.25 cents at $2.8625 a bushel; while Mar. soybeans lost 8.50 cents at $9.1325 a bushel.
