Allen’s two goals leads Dust Devils to 7-1 rout
BULLHEAD CITY — The Dust Devils demolished the Bulldogs 7-1 during their boys soccer game at River Valley High School on Saturday morning.
River Valley assistant coach Kenny Read said the Dust Devils were down several starters, but they started playing well after settling down.
Senior forward Devin Read was out due to a “red card,” said assistant coach Read. The other players were out after suffering from various injuries.
Junior Luca Serafini’s goal put the Dust Devils ahead 1-0 during the 24th minute.
Sophomore Caleb Bayless’ goal put River Valley ahead 2-0 at minute 30.
Serafini’s goal off an assist from freshman Hayden Allen made it 3-0 and Jason West’s goal off an assist from senior Abraham Garcia made it 4-0.
The Bulldogs’ lone goal —an own-goal — went in off a River Valley player, which made it 4-1 at halftime.
Allen tallied two goals and Garcia added on in the second half for the Dust Devils.
“Hayden did very well,” Read said. “He stepped up when we put him into a forward position today.
“He attacked the ball aggressively, which earned him two goals.
River Valley keeper Ricardo Gonzalez faced three shots to earn the win.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A Region VI win improved the Dust Devils’ record to 6-3 overall, 5-0 in conference and 4-0 in region, according to aiaonline.org.
