Track and Field: Humble ISD athletes prepare for state meet

Humble ISD will be represented during the state track and field meet at Mike A. Meyers Stadium this weekend in Austin, weather permitting.

Humble ISD will send four relay teams and 14 athletes for individual events.

The Summer Creek 4x100 relay girls features a team of Brandy Broxton, Dynasty McClennon, Morgan Taylor and Tianna Randle. The Lady Bulldogs team finished in first place with a time of 45.41 at the Region III-6A to advance to the state meet.

Randle will also compete in the 100-meter dash. Randle finished in first place at the Region III-6A meet with a time of 11.31.

McClennon will race in the 200-meter dash. She finished in second place at the Region III-6A meet with a time of 23.99.

Angel Robles will be the lone boy competing for Summer Creek at the meet. Robles finished in third place in the shot put at the Region III-6A meet with a throw of 58-10, but advanced to the state meet after having a better throw than athletes in Region IV-6A.

Robles broke former Bulldog Dakota Allen’s record in the shot put. Allen was recently drafted in the 7th round by the Los Angeles Rams.

Humble sprinter competes

Ian Gilmore will represent Humble at the state meet in the 400-meter dash. Gilmore finished in first place at the Region III-6A meet with a time of 47.52.

Kingwood relay team headed to state

The Kingwood boys 4x400 relay team of Jalen Gordon, Garrett Carswell, Bruce White and Donovan Josey will compete at the state meet. The Mustangs relay team finished in second place at the Region III-6A meet with a time of 3:14.89.

Trent Nolen and Josey will also compete in the 800-meter run. Nolen finished with a time of 1:54.73 at the Region III-6A meet while Josey finished with a time of 1:55.06.

Carter Strom will compete in the 1600-meter run at the state meet and Storm finished in second place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:13.04.

Atascocita boys, girls headed to state

The Atascocita girls 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams will compete at the state meet.

The Lady Eagles 4x200 relay team of Lindsey Davis, Winter Bogan, Mari Robinson and Arayna Mickles finished in second place with a time of 1:38.69 at the Region III-6A meet.

The girls 4x400 relay team of Davis, Mickles, Madison Savoy and Kaiel Kimbel took home the gold at the Region III-6A meet with a time of 3:47.61.

Atascocita’s Taylor Nelloms will compete in the triple jump after finishing with a 40-06.25 at the Region III-6A meet.

The Atascocita boys will have three competitors at the state meet.

Jathan Belaire will compete in the long jump after a 24-06.00 performance at the Region III-6A meet.

Jaden Paterson (48-00.00) and Henry Kiner (49-04.50) will compete in the triple jump after advancing from the Region III-6A meet.

K-Park’s Allen competes in wheelchair events

Kingwood Park’s Jacob Allen will compete three wheelchair events in 100-meter dash (16.08), 400-meter dash (59.45) and shot put (23-07.00) at the state meet after having a success at the Region III-5A meet.
