Trump attacks U.S. Intel Chiefs: Darcy cartoon

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After “Hamberder” King Donald Trump asked what was going on with Global “Waming” and urged it to come back, he trolled U.S. Intel Chiefs, tweeting they “should go back to school.”

“Hamberder” loving and Global “Waming” denying Trump grew cold watching U.S. Intel Chiefs he appointed contradict his positions on Iran, ISIS, North Korea, Russia, Afghanistan and Global Warming, before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The Intel Chiefs testimony could be summed up by saying that whatever Trump has said regarding foreign affairs, the opposite is true.

Trump responded with a series of twitter rants, including these two on Iran:

The intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran.  They are wrong! When I became President Iran was making trouble all over the Middle East, and beyond.  Since ending the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, they are MUCH different, but...

...a source of potential danger and conflict.  They are testing Rockets ( last week) and more, and coming very close to the edge.  There economy is now crashing, which is the only thing holding them back.   Be careful of Iran.  Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!”

--Wrote the founder of Trump U. who thought Frederick Douglass was still alive.

Among the Intel Chiefs Trump said were “passive and naive,” was CIA Director Gina Haspel.  Haspel is a 30-year CIA veteran.  The big issue in her confirmation hearing was over her supervisory role in waterboarding.   Passive has never been a word associated with waterboarding.

Naive people aren’t hired by the CIA, let alone become CIA operatives and directors of the agency.   They also don’t become FBI Directors like Christopher Wray.

But ignorant and naive people can get elected President of the United State and get fooled by North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and possibly compromised by Vladimir Putin.

CNN reports that a seething Trump singled out Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats as he watched the Intel Chiefs testify.

As Haspel had testified, Coats also said Iran was actually still in compliance with the nuclear deal Trump reneged on.

While Trump said ISIS was defeated, Coats said it “has returned to its guerilla warfare roots while continuing to plot attacks and direct its supporters worldwide.  ISIS is intent on resurging and still commands thousands of fighter in Iraq and Syria.”

On North Korea, Coats said that while it had “halted its provocative behavior related to its WMD program” it was unlikely to completely denuclearize.

Coats also warned of Russia’s attempts to meddle in the 2020 U.S. elections.

Putin, Kim Jong Un, Iran and ISIS had to be laughing at Trump’s rant against his own Intel Chiefs, but that’s just one reason Trump’s tantrum was so deplorable.  It sends the wrong signals to our allies and it endangers all Americans if the Commander in Chief is disparaging and dismissing U.S. Intelligence assessments.

Trump was in full kill the messenger mode.   The problem is the messengers were respected U.S. Intel Chiefs he hired.

Just imagine if Trump was President during World War II instead of FDR or during the Cuban Missile Crisis instead of JFK.    I likely wouldn’t be writing this and you wouldn’t be reading it because odds are we’d be living under Nazi or Soviet rule.
