Board to vote on 2018-19 calendar

The Watertown Unified School District Board of Education will meet Monday at 6 p.m. to vote on the proposed 2018-19 school calendar.

There will be 137 full-student attendance days and 176 student contact days. The Wednesday 2 p.m. dismissal time will also continue next school year according to the calendar, for teacher collaboration time. There will be two early release days on March 22 and June 6. The calendar includes five staff development days on Aug. 27, Aug. 31, Oct. 25, 2018, and Feb. 15 and April 22, 2019.

The board will vote on a resolution to authorize the issuance and sale of about $3,585,000 in general obligation refunding bonds.

The district’s audit report will be presented to the board and up for approval.

The board will vote on Watertown High School course offerings.

The board will hear a mental health update and student learning objectives from Riverside Middle School and Watertown High School principals.

The board will also vote on a consent agenda which includes the noncertified staff resignations of Crystal Galica, special education paraprofessional at Douglas; Gail Kind, nutrition services at Watertown High School; and Saedra Fremont, special education paraprofessional at Riverside.

Staff appointments include: noncertified staff Saige Krohn, nutrition services, and Alexis Sponable, JV2 girls soccer.
