Five Below opens in Florence
FLORENCE, S.C. — Hundreds of Pee Dee residents went to Five Below at Magnolia Mall Friday to celebrate the store’s grand opening.
Five Below, a discount store chain based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the country with more than 630 stores in 32 states. The chain expects to open approximately 125 new stores in 2018.
Linda Atkinson of Florence said she had already visited the store multiple times leading up to the grand opening.
“I love the one in Columbia,” Atkinson said. “When they opened the store this week, I was one of the first to come in and, when I heard they’d have deals and stuff for the grand opening, I had to come back and bring some friends.”
Atkinson said the store’s variety is what sets it apart from many other chains.
“It’s just a really unique store,” Atkinson said. “It has a little of everything and the stuff in it is really nice. The have anything from home décor to candy to children’s toys and that makes it a place that everyone will love. I’m really excited to have one here in Florence.”
Nora Weatherford echoed Atkinson’s sentiments, saying the store had a great atmosphere and plenty of room to navigate.
“You just can’t beat the prices,” Weatherford said. “It’s a very trendy-seeming store and I’m looking forward to coming here more often, especially around Christmas.”
Five Below has 8,500 square feet and offers an assortment of cellphone cases and chargers, remote-control cars, yoga pants, graphic tees, nail polish, balls, an array of toys and candies, video games and DVDs, and seasonal products for Easter, Halloween, Christmas and other holidays, all for $5 or less.
The store is one of three new additions to the Magnolia Mall that replaced and expanded what previously was Sears. The other two are Burlington, which opened in late 2017, and HomeGoods, which is set to open in early May.
