Narcan training in Monroe next week
MONROE — A local library is hosting a Narcan training event next week.
The event, funded by a grant from the United State Department of Health and Human Services, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. next Thursday. It will take place at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.
During the event, participants will learn overdose prevention strategies, signs and symptoms of overdoses, how to administer naloxone and the Good Samaritan Law.
Naloxone is the opioid-overdose antidote. It is more commonly referred to as Narcan, which is a brand name for the device.
Those interested in participating are required to register. Registration can be done by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 203-452-2815, extension 4.
During the time of the event, the library will be closed so those participating will have to use the building’s back entrance.
