n The Idaho State Board of Education will meet today at 8 a.m. in the Health Care Education Building at the College of Eastern Idaho campus in Idaho Falls. The meeting will occur in rooms 6163/6164 located on the first floor.

n City of Pocatello Library Board Meeting will be today at 4:15 p.m., Marshall Public Library.

n A Pocatello native who has made a name for himself in the world of horror stories will be returning to the Gate City today. At 7 p.m. at the Marshall Public Library, author Bracken MacLeod will read from his works as well as take part in a question-and-answer session with attendees. MacLeod is the author of a collection of stories titled “13 Views of the Suicide Woods” and the novels “Stranded,” “Come to Dust,” and “Mountain Home.” His work on “Stranded,” earned him a nomination for a Bram Stoker Award from the Horror Writers Association and currently. The novel is in development for a television show from Warner Horizon Television.

n The Pocatello Garden Club’s meeting will be today at 6 p.m. at a member’s home. There will be a potluck, and discussion on the conclusion of the current Club’s project, and discussion of upcoming projects. For information on the location of the meeting, call Karla, 208-251-5654. Anyone interested in the Club is welcome to attend the meeting, and share dinner, dessert, and ideas.


n The Rockland School Foundation will hold its annual dinner and melodrama today, Friday and Saturday. The production this year is “Buck to the Future” The play will be held at the Rockland High School old gym and dinner will be served in the school cafeteria. Come enjoy a dinner of tri-tip, pulled pork, Dutch oven potatoes, green salad, jello salad, rolls, brownies and ice cream, and home made root beer. Refreshments available for purchase during the show. On Thursday, June 21, and Friday, June 22, dinner will be at 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria while the play will be at 7:30 p.m. in the old gym. On Saturday, there will be a matinee performance at 4 p.m. and a night showing with dinner at 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria while the play will be at 7:30 p.m. in the old gym. Ticket Prices are adult dinner and play $15, play or dinner $10 and 12 and under dinner and play is $7.50 or play or dinner $4. All profit goes to the Rockland School District and its students.

n Wild Hare Estate Sale will be located at 1305 Cedar Lake in Pocatello today from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.


n The Bannock County Democrats and the Swisher for Idaho campaign are proud to announce that we will be having a massive doorknocking on Friday across the area to jump start our summer campaign activities. Our local candidates and Aaron Swisher, who is the Democratic candidate for the US House of Representatives District No. 2, will be knocking on doors and introducing themselves to Bannock County Voters from 5 to 7 p.m. After the canvassing event is over, we invite everyone to come over for a candidate kick-off event 7 to 10 p.m. to get to know our candidates a bit better. There will be food and drinks available.
