BMS Band selected for All-State Band and Jazz Band
BMS Band students selected To NSBA 8th Grade All-State Band and Jazz Band
Each year all of Nebraska’s eighth grade band students are invited to audition for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association 8th Grade All-State Band & Jazz Band.
Mrs. Stacy Bean, NSBA Middle Level Chair, is honored to announce and would like to “Congratulate those students that were selected to participate in the 2018 NSBA 8th Grade All-State Band & Jazz Band!”
Students selected from Bluffs Middle School -
Ethan Gion (Alternate Trumpet – Concert Band), son of Jeffrey & Lisa Gion, Nathan Hoevet (Clarinet – Concert Band), son of Doug & Jennifer Hoevet, John Mentgen (Guitar – Jazz Band), son of John & Laura Mentgen, and Ayden Reed (Tuba – Concert Band), son of Jessica Collins & Jacob Collins, were selected by recorded audition to be members of the most prestigious and selective middle school honor bands in the state of Nebraska.
This year, the NSBA (Nebraska State Bandmasters Association) Honor Band committee selected 82 members and 23 alternates for the Concert Band and 19 members and 10 alternates for the Jazz Band. This group of 134 young musicians were selected from a total of 491 auditions from 71 Nebraska schools.
The NSBA 8th Grade All-State Band & Jazz Band will rehearse on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Kearney High School in Kearney, Nebraska. Conductors/Clinicians for this event are:
Concert Band - Ms. Erica Neidlinger, Associate Professor for DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois
Jazz Band – Mr. Ken Janek, Omaha, Nebraska
The Final Concert will be held in Kearney High School’s Concert Hall and Theatre at 4 p.m. CST. The concert is free and open to the public.
