April 17, 2017 GMT

BRIDGEPORT - A Veterans Benefits Symposium will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, April 24, at Housatonic Community College’s Beacon Hall Events Center.

The symposium is geared for veterans who have a hard time figuring out federal, state and local services available for them and their families. A benefits representative and nearly two dozen veteran-focuses organizations will be on hand with information and to answer questions.

Veterans should bring a copy of their DD 214 Form for expedited service. Event organizer Jeffery Stuart said the symposium is a “one-stop” for anyone looking for information about veterans’ benefits.

During the event, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal will make presentations honoring a World War II hero and State Sen. Edwin Gomes, D-Bridgeport, will bestow the Connecticut Veteran Service Award.

The Beacon Hall Events Center is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd., second floor.
