NEW YORK (AP) _ Marla Maples, who declared her love for married billionaire Donald Trump on ABC News’ ″PrimeTime Live,″ proved a ratings bonanza for the show, preliminary Nielsen audience estimates showed Friday.

Not only did the show win its time period for the first time since it made its debut in August, the ratings were the show’s highest since its October special on the San Francisco earthquake, which killed 67 people.

Thursday’s ″PrimeTime Live″ with the Maples interview averaged a 14.2 rating, compared with a 12.6 rating for the show’s earthquake broadcast. Each ratings point represents 921,000 homes.

Network programs competing with the ABC News exclusive - NBC’s rerun of an ″L.A. Law″ episode and a CBS special, ″Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women″ - averaged a 13.0 and an 8.7 in the ratings, respectively.

Diane Sawyer, who co-anchors ABC’s show with Sam Donaldson, conducted the interview with Maples. Maples is said to be the ″other woman″ in Trump’s life. The developer is estranged from his wife, Ivana.

Maples declined in the interview to characterize her relationship with Trump. But when Sawyer asked if she loved him, the actress-model replied, ″I do love him.″
