Grass eliminated from Division II wrestling tournament
CLEVELAND — Former Huntington High state champion Logan Grass was eliminated from the NCAA Division II wrestling tournament Friday at the Wolstein Center.
Grass, wrestling in the 165-pound weight class, was defeated by Devin Fitzpatrick of St. Cloud State, by 8-2 decision.
Fitzpatrick scored on three takedowns in the first period and Grass escaped each time but a fourth takedown in the third and final period built an insurmountable lead.
The match was in Friday’s second session and was in the first round of the consolation bracket.
Grass lost in the first round of the preliminary matches to Koery Windham from Adams State, 9-4, but bounced back by scoring a technical fall 16-0 win against Logan Saltou of Minnesota State.
