Weekend best bets: Stanley Cup at Brewgaloo, Moogfest, Spring Daze

There is a lot happening this weekend, including some fun festivals!

Brewgaloo (Raleigh City Plaza, 400 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh) - Enjoy samples from North Carolina breweries and spend some time with the Stanely Cup at this annual event in downtown Raleigh on Saturday. Things kick off on Friday with ticketed sampler event in City Plaza. The fun continues on Saturday with beer being sold by the pint or taste.

Moogfest (Downtown Durham, East Chapel Hill Street, Durham) - Questlove and Thomas Dolby are among the performers at this year’s Moogfest in Durham. The festival, which is devoted to art, music and technology, will be held Thursday through Sunday in downtown Durham.


Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival (Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Road, Cary) - Head to Bond Park on Saturday for this 25th annual festival featuring more than 170 North Carolina artists, entertainment on four stages and more fun.

Fayetteville Dogwood Festival (Festival Park, 335 Ray Ave, Fayetteville)- This annual festival runs Friday through Sunday at Festival Park. There will be concerts, fireworks, carnival rides, a street fair and classic car show.

Art in the Garden (Raleigh Little Theatre, 301 Pogue St, Raleigh) - This annual arts festival is Saturday at Raleigh Rose Garden at Raleigh Little Theatre. There will be live music, performances and craft center demonstrations.

Earth Day Festival (Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., Durham) - Enjoy a day filled with an eclectic mix of music, food, hands-on environmental education activities and much more at Durham Central Park on Saturday.

Party for the Planet (North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, 433 W. Murray Ave., Durham) - Celebrate Earth Day on Saturday at the NC Museum of Life and Science. There will be environmentally friendly festivities, including a puppet petting zoo and parade.

25th Anniversary: Women’s Empowerment (PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Rd., Raleigh) - For more than 25 years, Women’s Empowerment has built a legacy of excellence by celebrating the heritage, culture, impact and influence of African-American women. This year’s event features a performance by Patti LaBelle. The event starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at PNC Arena.

Kinshop (Junction West, 310 S West St., Raleigh) - There will be artists and makers, live music, cocktails and food at this event on Sunday at Junction West.

Pop-PupAlooza Dog Park at Dix Park (Dorothea Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh) - During this pop up event, dogs will be allowed off leash at a specially crafted space. There will be food and beer vendors for the humans.


SPCA of Wake Co. Dog Walk & Woofstock (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - This 20th annual event is Saturday at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. This pet-friendly event helps raise money for homeless pets.

Dane Cook (Durham Performing Arts Center, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - This stand-up comedian and actor will play DPAC on Friday night.

Brit Floyd (Durham Performing Arts Center, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - Brit Floyd, the world’s greatest Pink Floyd tribute show, returns to DPAC on Saturday with a special 40th anniversary celebration of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert (Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) - Relive the magic of your favorite wizard in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban during this concert at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium Friday and Saturday.

An Evening with Jason Robert Brown (CAM Raleigh, 409 W Martin St, Raleigh) - Theater Raleigh presents this fundraiser on Saturday featuring a reception, concert and talk-back session with Jason Robert Brown, three-time Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist, at the Contemporary Art Museum in downtown Raleigh.

Goodnights Presents: John Heffron (Goodnight’s, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) - The “Last Comic Standing” winner will be on stage at Goodnight’s Comedy Club Friday through Sunday.

NC Theater’s Murder for Two (A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater, 2 East South Street, Raleigh) - Officer Moscowicz is a small town policeman with dreams of making it to detective. One fateful night, shots ring out at the surprise birthday party. With the nearest detective an hour away, Marcus jumps at the chance to prove his sleuthing skills--with the help of his silent partner, Lou. But whodunit? See this show through May 5 at Fletcher Opera Theater.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise: The Tar Heel Sessions (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - This indie band hails from Boone. See them on stage Saturday night at Red Hat Amphitheater.

Oyster Roast (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham) - Motorco welcomes Oysters Carolina of Harkers Island for this event on Saturday. There will be raw and grilled options available.

7th Annual Bearthday Event (Raleigh City Farm, 800 North Blount Street, Raleigh) - Help Raleigh City Farm celebrate its 7th Bearthday on Saturday. This event will feature farm tours, children’s activities, silent auctions and more.

Goodguys 5th N.C. Nationals (North Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - Check out classic hot rods, muscle cars and tricked out trucks at this car show at the N.C. State Fairgrounds Friday through Sunday.
