New principal named at Amy Biehl Community School
Santa Fe Public Schools announced Thursday that Felicia Torres will be the principal at Amy Biehl Community School for the 2019-20 school year. Torres has been Amy Biehl’s interim principal since February and has worked at the school in various roles since it opened in 2010.
“This has been my home since its opening almost 10 years ago. For the past nine years, I have been committed to our school community in many different ways,” Torres said. “I look forward to continuing to be a support as an instructional leader for teachers, staff, students and families.”
At Amy Biehl, Torres has taught third- and fourth-grade students as well as a technology class. She has also worked as an interventionist, student assistance team leader and assistant principal.
The school has students from kindergarten through sixth grade and serves Rancho Viejo and the surrounding neighborhoods.
“Interim Principal Torres has a wealth of experience at Amy Biehl Community School,” Superintendent Veronica García said in a statement. “Having led the school since February, Principal Torres will smoothly transition as the permanent leader.”
