$217,499 donated on North Platte Giving Day
Donors raised $217,499 for local nonprofits Wednesday during North Platte Giving Day.
The third annual Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation event brought a lot of smiles to a lot of nonprofits, foundation executive director Eric Seacrest said.
“(And) we’ve seen a lot of donors that seem very pleased to support their favorite local causes,” he added.
The foundation received several generous checks, gave sponsored cash prizes to area organizations, and saw tens of thousands in matching funds given to some organizations, Seacrest said. More nonprofits were involved and more funds available than in previous years.
Giving Day was started three years ago, modeled after similar events in other Nebraska communities.
“The nonprofits told us they’d like to see this kind of thing in North Platte,” Seacrest said. “They thought it would be helpful. We thought it would be good service for the donors in the area.”
Donations go to organizations that serve Lincoln County, so donors can make an impact in their own communities.
“And they come through,” Seacrest said.
