Leominster Man Facing Assault, Vandalism Charges
LEOMINSTER -- A 26-year-old man allegedly grabbed a woman during an argument and threw her into the passenger seat of a car Monday, according to court documents.
Joel Davila of 9 Pleasant St. was charged with assault and battery on a family or household member and vandalizing property.
A witness said Davila allegedly grabbed the victim in a “bear hug” before throwing her onto the seat, court records say.
The witness said afterward that she saw the alleged victim in the driver’s seat back up the car and heard breaking glass, which is consistent with damage to the car and statements from the victim and suspect, according to court documents.
The victim reported Tuesday she argued with Davila and that he “recklessly damaged” the car that doesn’t belong to him, court records say.
At his Wednesday arraignment, a judge set his bail at $2,000 cash or $20,000 surety. Davila was also ordered to stay away from, have no contact with, and not to abuse the victim.
His next court date is a pre-trial hearing scheduled for April 8.
