Creighton volleyball sweeps St. John’s; Winters sets kills record at school
Jaali Winters set Creighton volleyball’s all-time kills record to help the tenth ranked Bluejays to a 3-0 win over St. John’s yesterday.
Scores of the match had CU winning 25-15, 26-24, 25-19. Winters had a match-high 16 kills and now owns 1,633 kills. She broke the Leah Ratzlaff’s previous mark of 1,622 on an attack midway through the second set off an assist from long-time friend and teammate Megan Ballenger. Winters hit a season-best .441, with four kills in the first set, five in the second set and seven in the final frame. Creighton improves to 14-4 overall and 6-0 in BIG EAST action. St. John’s dropped to 15-7 and is 4-3 in BIG EAST action. Taryn Kloth finished with 13 kills and seven digs, while Madelyn Cole tallied 41 assists, 15 digs and six blocks. Brittany Witt recorded a match-best 17 digs. The Bluejays hit .336 and finished with 48 kills, eight aces, 55 digs and eight blocks.
